Rahul Sewdial, a 27-year-old resident, was arrested on September 2, 2025, and formally charged today with the offense of receiving stolen articles, in violation of Section 237 (I) of the Criminal Law Offences Act, Chapter 8:01. The charge was brought forth by Balram Manickram.
Sewdial appeared in Vigilance Magistrates Court #1 this morning before His Worship Mr. Sunil Scarce, where the charges were read. He pleaded not guilty to the allegation.
However, during the proceedings, it was reported that Sewdial compensated the victim, Balram Manickram, with the sum of $450,000. Following this settlement, the matter was dismissed by the court.
