Mabaruma Police Detain WIN Party Members Over Noise Complaints

  • News

Members of the WIN party were detained by police and their campaign truck impounded on allegations of noise nuisance while driving through Mabaruma to announce an upcoming rally.

The incident occurred as party members made their way through local streets, prompting police intervention. They spent the night at the Mabaruma police station and were released this morning on $200,000 station bail.

Authorities cited noise nuisance as the reason for the arrests. However, the WIN party contends that this may be a case of political victimization. Supporters of the party noted that campaign trucks from other parties, including the PPP/C, have conducted similar announcements without facing similar consequences.

The situation has sparked discussions about fairness in the treatment of political parties in the region, raising concerns among WIN supporters about potential biases in enforcement.
