Mahendra Rampersaud, a 34-year-old miner from Mon Repos School Road, East Coast Demerara (ECD), has been arrested and charged following an incident in which he allegedly stabbed his wife. Rampersaud, also known as “Kacey,” was apprehended by the Guyana Police Force during an operation on February 14 at the Lusignan Grass Field after a wanted bulletin was issued for his arrest.

The stabbing incident occurred on May 16, 2025, at Bladen Hall/Strathspey, ECD, where 31-year-old Felicia Dharamjeet sustained serious injuries. Reports indicate that after separating three months prior to the attack—during which Dharamjeet left their Mon Repos home with their two sons, aged 11 and 9—Rampersaud allegedly visited her parents’ home. According to the victim, he confronted her about accusations of infidelity and, when she denied them, became enraged and attacked her with a knife.
During the altercation, their older son attempted to intervene and sustained cuts to his hand. Dharamjeet was rushed to the Georgetown Public Hospital, where she received treatment for multiple stab wounds to her neck and other injuries. Her son was treated at the Nabaclis Health Centre and later discharged.
Following the attack, Rampersaud went into hiding but was eventually located and arrested. He was charged with felonious wounding, contrary to Section 56(a) of the Criminal Law (Offences) Act, Chapter 8:01.
In court on Tuesday before Senior Magistrate Sunil Scarce, Rampersaud pleaded not guilty to the charges and was granted bail set at $200,000. The case has been adjourned to March 26 for further proceedings.
