Jonathon Burnette, a 33-year-old pork knocker from ‘B’ Field, Sophia, Georgetown, was charged with inflicting grievous bodily harm, in violation of Section 50 of the Criminal Law (Offences) Act, Chapter 8:01. This charge stemmed from an incident that occurred on February 21, 2026, at 111 Miles, Mahdia, Region #8, involving a 27-year-old bus conductor from North Sophia, Georgetown.
Burnette appeared before His Worship Senior Magistrate Clive Nurse at the Sparendaam Magistrate’s Court on Tuesday, February 24, 2026. He pleaded not guilty to the charge. However, the virtual complainant informed the court under oath that he would not be offering evidence in the matter.
As a result, the Magistrate dismissed the case for lack of evidence. Both parties were subsequently placed on a six-month bond to keep the peace, with the stipulation that failure to comply would result in six weeks of imprisonment.
