Marel Cheong was charged with Driving Under the Influence (D.U.I.) and appeared in the Mabaruma Magistrate’s Court on Monday, March 2, 2026, before His Worship Mr. Clive Nurse.
After the charge was read, Cheong pleaded guilty and was fined $200,000. Should the defendant fail to pay the fine, a three-month imprisonment sentence will be imposed.
