
43-year-old mason Sherwin Charles, residing at Lot 83 Number 5 Village, West Coast Berbice, faced legal repercussions after being charged with possession of narcotics for the purpose of trafficking, involving 44.5 grams of cannabis.
Charles appeared at the Lethem Magistrate’s Court before His Worship Mr. O. Chandan, where the charge was presented. He pleaded guilty to the offense, leading to a sentence that included a fine of $66,750 GYD. In addition to the financial penalty, Charles has been mandated to complete six months of community service.
This case underscores the ongoing efforts by local authorities to address narcotics-related offenses in the community.
