Mechanic Fined and License Suspended for Dangerous Driving and Speeding

Shemuel Douglas, a 25-year-old mechanic employed with Farms Supplies Limited from Crane Housing Scheme, has faced legal consequences for dangerous driving and exceeding the speed limit.

The offenses occurred on Monday, December 8, 2025, along the Nelson Mandela to Eccles Interlink, involving 28-year-old T’Shaun Nicolas Thompson, a screen printer and head press operator from Atlantic Ville, Greater Georgetown.

Douglas appeared today, January 7, 2026, at the Georgetown Magistrates’ Court #7 before Magistrate Shivani Lalaram, where he pleaded guilty to both charges.

For dangerous driving, he was fined $50,000, or an alternative sentence of ten weeks in prison. Additionally, his driver’s license was suspended for one year, effective from today. For exceeding the speed limit, Douglas received a fine of $40,000 or a possible eight-week imprisonment.

This case highlights ongoing efforts to enhance road safety and enforce traffic laws to protect the community. Authorities continue to urge drivers to adhere to speed regulations and prioritize the safety of all road users.
