Toney appeared before Magistrate Ravindra Mohabir at the Anna Regina Magistrate’s Court last Friday, where he faced charges under Section 4 (1) (a) (i) of the Narcotic Drug and Psychotropic Substances (Control) Act, Chapter 10:10. The charge stated that on February 26, Toney had 21 grams of cannabis in his possession.

Upon pleading guilty, he was fined $20,000 or, in default, two months’ imprisonment. Additionally, Toney was ordered to complete 90 hours of community service at the Suddie Police Station within 30 days. Failure to comply will result in an additional six months of imprisonment.

Toney also faced two traffic charges: unlicensed driving, contrary to Section 23 (1) of the Motor Vehicle and Road Traffic Offences Act, Chapter 51:02, and breach of insurance, contrary to Section 3 (1) of the Motor Vehicle Insurance (Third Party Risks) Act, Chapter 51:03. He pleaded not guilty to both traffic charges.

Bail was granted in the amounts of 30,000 for the unlicensed driving charge and 40,000 for the breach of insurance charge. The traffic matters have been adjourned to June 25.
