Jamal Green, a 26-year-old mechanic from Durban Street, Lodge, was fatally stabbed in an altercation with another man on Friday, July 4, 2025. The incident occurred around 1:30 PM between Robb and Albert Streets.

The suspect, identified as Keon Belgrave, a 30-year-old taxi driver from the Sophia squatting area, has been arrested and is currently in police custody.
According to police reports, Belgrave was driving motor car PXX 7379 heading south when Green, riding motorcycle CN 9595, approached him from behind. It is alleged that Green confronted Belgrave, suggesting he should have hit him with the vehicle.
After a brief exchange, Green stopped his motorcycle a short distance ahead, prompting Belgrave to park his car and approach him. An eyewitness, a 30-year-old man, reported that he saw Green wielding a piece of iron and striking Belgrave on the back.
In response, Belgrave returned to his car, retrieved a knife, and confronted Green. A scuffle ensued, during which Belgrave stabbed Green three times in the back, causing him to collapse.
Emergency medical technicians arrived at the scene, and Green was transported to the Georgetown Public Hospital Corporation (GPHC), where he was pronounced dead by Dr. Walcott despite treatment efforts.
Police recovered a knife and the iron from the scene, and CCTV footage from nearby cameras captured the altercation.
During an interview, Belgrave claimed that the confrontation began when Green rode alongside his vehicle and made aggressive comments. He stated that after the initial argument, Green confronted him again with a steel pipe, leading to the scuffle.
The body of Jamal Green is currently at the GPHC’s mortuary, awaiting a post-mortem examination. Investigations into the incident are ongoing.
