Police ranks in Regional Division #9 have arrested a 23-year-old miner following the discovery of suspected cannabis during a police operation at a hotel in Lethem on Sunday.

Acting on received information, police conducted the search at approximately 11:50 AM, focusing on the suspect and his hotel room. During the search, officers uncovered 13 transparent zip-lock bags containing leaves, seeds, and stems believed to be cannabis, concealed within an article of clothing. Additionally, G$164,000 in cash was found at the scene.
The cannabis was weighed in the presence of the suspect, totaling 6.6 grams. The miner was promptly arrested and taken to the Lethem Police Station, where the suspected narcotics were lodged for further analysis.
Investigations into the matter are ongoing, and the suspect remains in police custody as authorities work to gather more information.
