A 39-year-old miner from Ann’s Grove, East Coast Demerara, was arrested on Friday afternoon following the discovery of a significant quantity of cannabis during a police patrol.

According to police reports, officers were conducting foot patrols in the area when they received information that led them to the suspect at a boat house. Upon making contact, authorities conducted a search of the individual and his belongings.
During the search, officers uncovered leaves, seeds, and stems believed to be cannabis inside a bag belonging to the suspect. The substance was weighed in his presence and amounted to five kilogrammes.
The suspect was subsequently taken into custody and escorted to the Parika Police Station along with the suspected cannabis, which has been lodged as evidence. Investigations are ongoing, and the suspect remains in custody pending charges.
