Minister Anand Persaud Donates Graduation Trophies to Nursery Students.

A First in Fyrish Village History

A wave of joy and gratitude swept through the community of Fyrish Village as history was made at the Fyrish Village Nursery School’s graduation ceremony. For the first time in the school’s existence, every graduating student proudly received a personalized trophy, thanks to the generous support of the Hon. Anand Persaud, Minister within the Ministry of Local Government and Regional Development.

This heartfelt donation exemplifies the Government of Guyana’s unwavering commitment to investing in early childhood education and regional development. Minister Persaud’s contribution ensured that the young graduates were not only celebrated with ceremony but also left with a lasting symbol of their achievement.

His Excellency Dr. Leslie Ramsammy, former Minister of Health and Agriculture and Guyana’s current Ambassador to the European Union, served as the guest speaker at the event. Representing Minister Persaud, Dr. Ramsammy delivered a passionate address, highlighting that Guyana stands out as the only country in the Caribbean and Latin America with the highest level of access to nursery education—an achievement made possible under the leadership of the People’s Progressive Party/Civic (PPP/C) Government.

“The PPP/C Government remains fully committed to empowering communities and supporting the development of our youngest citizens,” Dr. Ramsammy stated. “What we are witnessing today is not just a graduation—it is a celebration of opportunity, equity, and hope.”

The event was graced by several distinguished guests, including Mrs. Patricia Chase Green, Former Mayor of Georgetown and Serving Councillor; Mr. Andre Jackman, Senior Community Development Officer; Dr. Berysha Saskia Solomon, Senior Community Development Officer; and Mrs. Geeta Chandan-Edmond, Former Member of Parliament.

Parents, teachers, and community members expressed deep appreciation to Minister Persaud and the Ministry of Local Government and Regional Development for their support, describing the event as “unforgettable” and “a proud moment for Fyrish Village.”

This initiative stands as yet another example of the PPP/C Government’s dedication to uplifting rural communities, supporting education at every level, and ensuring that no child is left behind.
