Minister Deodat Indar, who serves within the Ministry of Public Works, has announced that he has filed a formal complaint with the Cyber Crime Division at Police CID headquarters in response to a Facebook post by a user named Annie Khemraj, which he claims aims to damage his reputation.
In a statement made today, Indar expressed his frustration over the post, describing it as “a concoction of lies and fairytales.” He stated, “I did not know this person existed until today,” emphasizing his strong reaction to the content of the post.
After reviewing Khemraj’s video, Indar concluded that her comments were not simply civil in nature but criminal offenses. He condemned her allegations, which included serious accusations of terrorism and murder related to an ongoing investigation by the Armed Forces of Guyana.
Indar characterized Khemraj’s behavior as opportunistic, suggesting that she is attempting to gain popularity by stepping on others. He stated, “This is a crab dog, crab louse, ‘battam house Krapo’ kind of behavior,” indicating his dismay at the method behind the attack.
Addressing the implications of the post, Indar asserted that “her comments have consequences,” reaffirming his rights as a citizen to seek justice. He issued a warning to those who believe they can harm his character on social media, particularly those in the opposition camp.
Indar’s declaration underscores the rising tensions in the political landscape and highlights the serious repercussions of online defamation. He vowed to pursue justice vigorously in light of the accusations against him.
