Minister of Public Works, Juan Edghill, has announced an expansion of boat services to accommodate the rising demand for transportation during the upcoming Christmas holiday period.

In a video shared on his Facebook page, Edghill outlined the plans for increased vessel movement, particularly on the Region One (Barima-Waini) route. Vessels such as the MV Kimbia, Ma Lisha, and Barima will see a constant flow to ensure efficient transport.
For Bartica in Region Seven (Cuyuni-Mazaruni), two daily trips will be scheduled during this festive period. Additionally, vessels on the Bartica route will also facilitate the transportation of goods between the islands of Wakenaam and Leguan, according to Edghill.
Along the Parika-Supenaam route, the MV Sabanto and Kamawan will maintain their usual operations, while the new Aris IV is set to be added to the fleet by Friday, further addressing the high demand along this busy route.
Edghill mentioned that other vessels are currently undergoing servicing but expressed confidence that the increased trips and the arrival of the Aris IV will adequately meet the transportation needs of the community during the Christmas season.
This initiative aims to ensure that travelers can rely on efficient and accessible transport options, as many families prepare to celebrate the holidays. Further updates on the operational changes are expected as the holiday approaches.
