Hon. Kwame McCoy, Minister within the Office of the Prime Minister, has accused Hadiyyah Mohamed and the We Invest in Nationhood (WIN) party of spreading misinformation during the ongoing 2025 electoral process. He claims their campaign is designed to incite fear and disrupt public confidence in the elections.

In a statement, McCoy asserted that, despite the peaceful and credible conduct of the polls, Mohamed and her associates have been disseminating “distortions and outright falsehoods.” He specifically criticized claims of ballot box tampering, which he described as irresponsible and accompanied by misleading social media content that violates procedures set by the Guyana Elections Commission (GECOM).
McCoy emphasized that Guyana’s democracy relies on the integrity of the electoral process, arguing that the recount enhances its credibility. He pointed out that individuals with a history of legal troubles, including sanctions from the U.S. for gold smuggling and tax evasion, are behind these allegations, suggesting a “hustler’s mentality” driven by self-interest and mistrust.
As the recount continues, McCoy called for a commitment to uphold the democratic process and reject attempts to undermine it.
