Hon. Oneidge Walrond, Minister of Home Affairs, addressed the nation regarding the newly implemented tint policy, emphasizing that it transcends mere regulations on window tinting. “[The tint policy] is about restoring order to something that was completely unregulated for far too long,” she stated.

Minister Walrond acknowledged that while tinting was widely used, it was often exploited by individuals to drive recklessly, engage in illegal activities, and evade law enforcement detection. “That era is over,” she declared, signaling a commitment to structured and accountable regulatory measures.
The new policy aims to bring structure, uniformity, and accountability to a previously chaotic system. It seeks to close existing gaps, eliminate excuses for past violations, and address the selective enforcement of regulations.
“Let it be clearly understood: every motorist in Guyana can now have tint—but within safe, transparent, and enforceable limits that protect the public and support effective policing,” Walrond asserted.
She emphasized that this initiative embodies fairness and responsible governance, contributing to safer roads and fostering a more law-abiding society. The Minister stands firm in her belief that these changes will ultimately benefit all motorists and the community at large.
