Todd noted that President Irfaan Ali has made national security a top priority, ensuring that citizens can carry out their daily activities with confidence. “The President has spoken extensively on ensuring that we protect the people of Guyana and our resources, allowing everyone to go to bed feeling safe,” he stated.

He reiterated that the government has successfully created an environment where safety and stability are paramount. President Ali continues to work closely with international partners to explore all options that will maintain this favorable climate.

When asked about investor sentiment regarding regional instability, Todd reassured that there are no signs of investor unease. “I don’t recall that investors were worried. What I know is that Guyana is a very attractive destination for investment,” he said, reflecting optimism about the investment climate in the country.

In addition to focusing on economic stability, Todd highlighted Guyana’s commitment to peace in the region. He pointed out that President Ali consistently advocates for maintaining the area as a “zone of stability.”

The political landscape in Venezuela has shifted significantly following the ousting of President Nicolás Maduro, who faces criminal charges in the United States. In response, Guyana has called for the region to remain peaceful while emphasizing that drug trafficking and gang violence must be addressed to protect societies.

Todd concluded by reaffirming that Guyana’s response to the ongoing border controversy with Venezuela is firmly rooted in diplomacy and international law, ensuring that the nation remains committed to peaceful resolutions.
