Ministry of Education Addresses False Claims About COVID-19 Cases

at West Ruimveldt Primary School

The Ministry of Education has issued a statement in response to a news report aired on HGP Nightly News, which claimed that three children from a Grade 5 class at West Ruimveldt Primary School tested positive for COVID-19. The report also alleged that the Ministry failed to respond to requests for fumigation and risk mitigation.

The Ministry categorically denies these claims. Following a direct inquiry, the Head Teacher of West Ruimveldt Primary School confirmed that there are currently no reported or confirmed cases of COVID-19 among students or staff. Furthermore, no official report of illness has been submitted to the Department of Education or the Ministry.

“This misinformation not only causes unnecessary panic but also undermines public trust in our education system,” the statement read. The Ministry strongly condemns the spread of inaccurate and misleading information, particularly concerning the health and safety of children.

In reassurance to parents, teachers, and the public, the Ministry emphasized that:

It remains vigilant in monitoring public health conditions in all schools.

Clear and active protocols are in place for handling any suspected cases of illness, including immediate collaboration with the Ministry of Health.

Schools are regularly sanitized, and any health risks are addressed promptly and transparently.

The Ministry of Education is committed to safeguarding the wellbeing of all students and staff across the country. They urge media outlets to verify information before publication and to act responsibly in the public interest.

For any concerns or clarification, parents and guardians are encouraged to contact the Regional Education Office directly.
