The Ministry of Education is undertaking a comprehensive review of the National School Feeding Programme to enhance its nutritional offerings and ensure a lasting positive impact on school children and their families across the country.

Minister of Education Sonia Parag, who assumed office in September, stated, “I had a sit down with the School Feeding Unit to ascertain the daily operations of the programme and how we can improve it to create the impact that we want.” This initiative reflects a commitment to meet the nutritional needs of learners effectively.

To bolster the programme, the ministry is collaborating with the Carnegie School of Home Economics to review and enhance the menu, focusing on its nutritional output.

Additionally, the ministry is taking public feedback seriously, with all complaints raised through social media and other channels set to be investigated promptly and addressed fairly. “We are prepared to work with those who are willing to meet the standards set out,” the ministry emphasized, reiterating their unwavering commitment to safeguarding the health and well-being of children.

Headteachers are reminded of their critical role in the programme’s success and are urged to report any issues to the Ministry of Education without delay. This collaboration aims to ensure the continued effectiveness of the National School Feeding Programme.
