Ministry of Home Affairs Launches Investigations into Allegations of Misconduct at Police Academy

The Ministry of Home Affairs has acknowledged serious allegations concerning sexual exploitation, abuse of authority, and misconduct at the Guyana Police Force Academy. In response to these troubling reports, the Ministry has promptly directed the Criminal Investigation Department and the Office of Professional Responsibility to initiate comprehensive investigations.

The Ministry emphasizes its commitment to addressing such issues with the highest level of seriousness, reaffirming its zero-tolerance policy regarding abuse, exploitation, or misconduct within any agency under its oversight.

It stated that any individual, irrespective of their rank or tenure, who is found to have engaged in wrongdoing will face legal charges and be held accountable. The Ministry also stressed the importance of maintaining due process, ensuring that investigations are conducted thoroughly, fairly, and without interference.

The welfare, dignity, and protection of all trainees and officers within the Guyana Police Force are being prioritized as part of these ongoing investigations.
