The Ministry of Home Affairs said it is aware of the incident at the Cove and John Police Station and is working in close coordination with the Guyana Police Force to establish the full circumstances surrounding the matter.
The ministry stated that a thorough and comprehensive investigation has been initiated, assuring the public—particularly the affected family—that the process will be conducted with the highest standards of professionalism, impartiality and accountability.
It urged members of the public to allow the investigative process to proceed without interference, appealing for calm, restraint and respect for the rule of law as the facts are carefully examined.
The Ministry of Home Affairs also extended its deepest condolences to the family and loved ones of the deceased, reaffirming its commitment to ensuring due process is followed and that all necessary actions are taken in accordance with the law.
