Haulice London, 41, and her 19-year-old daughter, Maria London, joyfully celebrated their graduation from the Cyril Potter College of Education (CPCE), marking a unique milestone in their lives.
Haulice, who taught at Little Treasures Academy for 19 years before moving to Bush Lot Nursery School in January 2025, shared that attending CPCE was a long-held dream. Completing her studies alongside her daughter felt like a “miracle.” She described her transition from a comfortable private school to public education as both emotional and rewarding.
Despite facing challenges and moments of frustration, Haulice found strength in having Maria by her side. “It was a blessing to pursue this educational goal with my daughter,” she noted. Their partnership proved beneficial, particularly when Haulice struggled with Information Technology; Maria’s assistance helped her overcome those hurdles.
Haulice had to navigate negative comments about their joint enrollment, but she emphasized the joy it brought her. “It’s actually the greatest thing a mother can ask for.”
Maria, now teaching Agricultural Science at Bygeval Secondary School, echoed her mother’s sentiments, saying the experience was a remarkable journey for them both.
Now, as trained teachers, this mother-daughter duo is committed to shaping the future of young minds in Guyana.
