Big Smith News Watch Reports : Four children are now motherless following the tragic death of 36-year-old Harriet George, who succumbed to third-degree burns sustained on September 4, 2025, when a regulator on a Massy gas bottle malfunctioned. George’s 13-year-old nephew, Jadon Jarad, also suffered second-degree burns in the incident.

Both were rushed to the Georgetown Public Hospital in critical condition. While Jarad was discharged three days later, George remained hospitalized until her death on Saturday, September 13, 2025, at 12:15 PM.
Speaking with BIG Smith News Watch, George’s sister, Annette, expressed the family’s anguish, stating that while they were informed of the severity of their injuries, they felt they lacked crucial details that could have led to overseas medical intervention. “We would have sold our house and car if needed to ensure her survival,” Annette said. “She has four children who are now left behind.”
Doctors indicated that Jadon, who has since recovered, will need about nine months before returning to normalcy.
On the morning of the incident, George and Jarad were preparing to open their family business when they detected a gas smell. Before they could react, a loud explosion blew off the roof of their shop, causing their clothes to smoke and melt onto their skin without visible flames present.
When contacted for a statement, Massy declined to comment directly on the incident but later issued a press release stating that an investigation revealed the explosion was due to a faulty regulator.
