Motorcyclist Charged Following Serious Accident with Police Inspector

A serious accident occurred on Tuesday, August 19, 2025, at approximately 8:10 AM involving John Walcott, a Police Inspector, and motorcyclist Cort Murphy, who was riding motorcycle number CP 6682.

Murphy, a 26-year-old resident of Lot 42 Victoria Village, was arrested on the same day and subsequently charged when he appeared at the Vigilance Magistrate’s Court on Friday, August 21, 2025.

Before His Worship Magistrate Sunil Scarce, Murphy pleaded not guilty to three charges and guilty to four others. He was granted bail set at $100,000, with the case adjourned to September 24, 2025.

The specific charges and Murphy’s pleas are as follows:

  1. Fail to stop when required by police in uniform – Not Guilty
  2. Uninsured Motor Vehicle – Not Guilty
  3. Fail to stop at an accident scene – Not Guilty
  4. Unlicensed Driver – Guilty ($40,000)
  5. Uncertified Motor Vehicle – Guilty ($25,000)
  6. Unlicensed Motor Vehicle – Guilty ($20,000)
  7. Driving without a Safety Helmet – Guilty ($10,000)
