Motorcyclist Dies in Accident on Soesdyke/Linden Highway

Winston Hubert, a 78-year-old motorcyclist, tragically lost his life in an accident on the Soesdyke/Linden Highway on Sunday afternoon. The incident occurred around 5:30 PM.

Hubert, a resident of Long Creek, was riding his motorcycle (#CG 8545) north along the western lane of the highway at a high speed when he reportedly lost control and collided with a concrete kerb. The impact caused him to fall from the motorcycle, resulting in significant injuries to his head and body.

Witnesses in the area reported that Hubert had been attending a funeral in the community prior to the accident, where he had consumed alcohol. It was noted that he was not wearing a safety helmet at the time of the crash.

After the accident, Hubert was found in a semi-conscious state. He was promptly placed in a passing vehicle and transported to the Linden Hospital Complex for medical attention. Despite the efforts of medical staff, Hubert succumbed to his injuries while receiving treatment.

Following the examination, his body was taken to the Linden Hospital Complex Mortuary, where it will be held pending a Post-Mortem Examination.

Authorities are investigating the circumstances surrounding the accident, including factors such as speed, alcohol consumption, and safety equipment usage.
