Shaka Phillips, 21, known as ‘Concrete Man’ from Central Amelia’s Ward, has confessed to the murder of his 26-year-old child-mother, Jenel Pollydore. He was arrested yesterday and provided investigators with details regarding the events leading up to the fatal shooting.

According to Phillips, on July 19, 2025, he attempted to contact Jenel by calling her cellphone, but she did not answer. He then went to the R&R hotel in Central Amelia’s Ward, where a wedding reception was underway, and saw Jenel conversing with another man. After confronting her about not taking his calls, an argument ensued.
In a moment of anger, Phillips admitted to pulling a gun from his shoulder bag and shooting Jenel. He stated that she ran into the hotel yard, and he followed her, shooting her again as she fell to the ground. After the shooting, Phillips fled the scene on a bicycle and went into hiding in Amelia’s Ward.
He later claimed to have discarded the firearm in the Demerara River at ‘Adams boat landing.’ Investigators attempted to search the area for the weapon, but due to the spring tide, their efforts were unsuccessful. The suspect’s interview was recorded on video and audio, and statements from eyewitnesses are also being gathered as the investigation continues.
