On September 19, 2025, between 12:05 and 2:00 PM, police from Regional Division 4C conducted an intelligence-led operation at a corner shop owned by 42-year-old David Mingo in Beterverwagting.

During the search of the shop, officers found a large plastic sealer, plastic wrap, and various ziplock bags, but no illicit items were discovered. Acting on further intelligence, police then searched a nearby overgrown plot of land where they uncovered a concealed white salt bag at the base of a palm tree. Along with the bag, a small bucket was found nearby.
The salt bag contained several wraps of leaves, seeds, and stems suspected to be cannabis. The bucket held three boxes containing a total of sixty live 7.62 x 39 mm ammunition, fifty live 9mm rounds, a quantity of a creamish rock-like substance suspected to be cocaine, and cash amounting to Gy$78,500.
Mingo was arrested and taken to the Sparendaam Police Station. When questioned, he denied any knowledge of the items. The suspected cocaine weighed 785 grams, while the cannabis totaled 3,895 grams. All evidence, including the narcotics, ammunition, and cash, has been secured, and the investigation is ongoing.
