Intelligence-Led Police Operation Conducted at Plaisance: Narcotics and Cash Found

Earlier today (Wednesday), between 3:00 PM and 4:00 PM, based on intelligence received, Superintendent Dufu, along with other ranks, proceeded to Lot 18 Victoria Road, Plaisance, East Coast Demerara, to conduct a search for ammunition, firearms, and narcotics.

Upon arrival, a male of African descent, dressed in green trunks, was observed fleeing from the premises. Despite an immediate chase, the suspect escaped. A search of the premises revealed a quantity of ‘fronto’ in a yellow plastic bag, along with several transparent ziplock bags.

Additionally, a sum of cash in various denominations was found, including Guyana currency notes of five thousand, two thousand, one thousand, five hundred, one hundred, and twenty-dollar denominations, as well as two fifty-dollar notes and one twenty-dollar note in United States currency. The total value of the cash amounted to one hundred and thirteen thousand, five hundred Guyana dollars (GC$113,500).

Further investigation uncovered a black plastic bag containing a bulky parcel with leaves, seeds, and stems suspected to be cannabis.

All items were collected and taken to the Sparendaam Police Station, where the suspected cannabis was weighed and found to be 304 grams. All items have been lodged for further processing.
