President Dr. Irfaan Ali announced that the new Single Electronic Identification System will simplify access to the cash grant voucher program for all citizens.
He made the announcement at the commissioning of a new block at North Ruimveldt Secondary School, stating he was the first person to be registered under the initiative.
The digital ID will integrate with various government services. In 2023, the government signed a $34.5 million contract with Veridos, a German identity solutions provider, to implement this system.
