
NCN Guyana Reports | Following the tragic accident at Number 63 Village, Corentyne, which resulted in the deaths of two individuals, the Director General of the Ministry of Health, Dr. Vishwa Mahadeo, has confirmed that the blood bank at Number 75 Hospital is “fully stocked.”
The accident involved a minibus transporting school children from a sports event, leading to the loss of 16-year-old Jodea Seline, a student at Central Corentyne Secondary School, and 31-year-old Jerome Bernard, the teacher and driver of the minibus (BAB 7570). Seline was pronounced dead upon arrival at the hospital, while Bernard succumbed to his injuries while receiving treatment at the Georgetown Public Hospital.
Witnesses reported that emergency services responded swiftly, transporting the injured to the nearest hospital for urgent care.
Dr. Mahadeo addressed recent concerns surrounding the availability of “O-type blood,” refuting allegations that the hospital lacked this crucial resource. He stated that all necessary medical interventions were provided promptly.
