Aubrey Norton, the presidential candidate for APNU, endorsed Dexter Todd’s comments attributing the coalition’s tax hikes and unmet promises during its 2015-2020 term to the private sector’s actions. Speaking at a recent APNU meeting, Todd claimed that the private sector had shut down economic activities, making it difficult for the APNU+AFC government to succeed.

Todd noted that many in the private sector were not supporters of the APNU or PNC, which contributed to the coalition’s struggles. The APNU+AFC introduced around 300 new taxes, including those on water and electricity.
When asked about Todd’s statements, Norton agreed, stating he supports Todd’s perspective. He emphasized that if APNU wins the upcoming elections on September 1, 2025, they will engage with the private sector to address concerns collaboratively.
