MP Odessa Primus from the We Invest in Nationhood (WIN) Political Party publicly expressed her attendance at the 56th Republic Anniversary Flag Raising Ceremony, emphasizing the importance of national unity despite political differences.

In a Facebook post, Primus asserted, “This is a national event regardless of if the government operates that way.” She highlighted that whenever there is a national activity, it is about Guyana and its citizens, stating that WIN will always participate if invited.
While acknowledging the political climate, Primus noted, “We will not be petty politicians.” She expressed her displeasure with the president’s failure to acknowledge the leader of the opposition during the ceremony but maintained that such issues do not overshadow the significance of the event. “These events are bigger than the president and the PPP. This is a Guyanese celebration,” she stated.
Primus concluded her message by reaffirming the commitment of elected officials to serve the populace rather than themselves, reinforcing the notion that national pride and unity should prevail over political rivalry.
