More than a month after his interception and subsequent charges, Olrick Fingal has been granted bail in the amount of $750,000 for a drug trafficking charge. Magistrate Fabayo Azore approved the bail on Monday during Fingal’s second appearance at the Georgetown Magistrates’ Court.

Fingal was charged with possession of 3.8 kilogrammes of cannabis for trafficking, an offense that occurred on May 16 at Mandela Avenue, Georgetown. He initially denied the allegation and was remanded to prison.
On Tuesday, the case was revisited, and Attorney Bernard DaSilva made a successful bail application on behalf of Fingal. The court adjourned the case to October 14 for the commencement of a trial.
The Customs Anti-Narcotic Unit (CANU) reported that their ranks conducted an operation based on received information in the vicinity of the Royal Hotel on Mandela Avenue. During this operation, Fingal was intercepted, and a search revealed eight parcels containing leaves, seeds, and stems suspected to be cannabis, along with a CZ pistol and 19 rounds of live ammunition.
Notably, Fingal has not been charged regarding the firearm and ammunition possession. Following the incident, he was taken to CANU headquarters for further investigation, leading to the charges laid against him.
