In a public statement, the Ministry said Education Officers visited more than 75 percent of schools nationwide on Sunday, May 31, to evaluate conditions and determine whether learning environments remained safe and accessible.

The assessments found that only seven schools required temporary closure. The Ministry said it is working closely with the affected institutions to provide support and implement alternative arrangements to ensure students’ education continues with minimal disruption.

Chief Education Officer Saddam Hussain said the Ministry remains committed to safeguarding the welfare of students and staff, and pledged to continue providing timely updates as the situation develops.

The Ministry noted that it has been actively monitoring the impact of recent rainfall on schools throughout the country, and commended Education Officers who participated in the weekend assessments. Gratitude was also extended to parents, teachers, and communities for their cooperation during the adverse weather conditions.

Officials confirmed that monitoring efforts will continue as weather conditions evolve across the country.
