Opposition Leader Azruddin Mohamed and Team Protest Delays in Electing Regional Chairman for Region 10

News

Opposition Leader Azruddin Mohamed and his team staged a protest at the Regional Democratic Council (RDC) office in Region 10 yesterday, highlighting the ongoing delay in the election of a regional chairman. Notably, Region 10 is the only region in the country without a duly elected chairman.

During the protest, Mohamed emphasized the overwhelming support from residents for We Invest in Nationhood (WIN), stating, “We must respect their choice.” He stressed the urgency of moving forward with the region’s business, asserting that representation should not be stalled any longer.

WIN is calling on the Regional Executive Officer (REO) and the Minister of Local Government, Priya Manickchand, to ensure that a second round of elections is conducted so a regional chairman can be appointed. The protest serves as a plea for swift action in fulfilling the democratic wishes of Region 10’s residents and reinstating proper governance in the area.
