News Source Guyana Reports : Rubbishing the notion that the People’s National Congress Reform (PNCR) is in a state of disintegration, Party Leader Aubrey Norton stated on Friday that with a membership exceeding 20,000, the PNCR remains unfazed by the recent departures of Member of Parliament Geeta Chandan-Edmond, Region 4 Regional Chairman Daniel Seeram, and Vice Chairman Samuel Sandy.

At a press conference, Mr. Norton remarked that the three had ceased to contribute to the PNCR for some time.
“I see the prominence given to their departures as a manifestation of the weaknesses of the People’s Progressive Party. As they struggle within their own community and perceive threats from Mohamed and the opposition, they are clutching at anything. In their attempt to appear popular, they’ve exaggerated these departures as significant events. But let me remind them: Odinga left, Joe Hamilton left, many have left, and the People’s National Congress Reform has remained intact. This will be no different,” Norton said.
He expressed doubt that the trio would significantly impact the party’s voter base when elections occur in September.
“Our party structure is intact, and our base is solid. While one or two individuals might have some influence, there will be no negative impact on the party overall. I don’t want to get into specifics, but I don’t believe any of them can pull three votes,” he asserted.
When asked if he felt betrayed and why the party did not recall Chandan-Edmond after the 2025 Budget Debates, in which she aligned herself with the Government, Norton explained, “It was felt at the time that there was not much to gain by recalling her just months before elections.”
He added that he still does not see the “political capital” or “political value” in pursuing her recall from Parliament.
However, he emphasized that the PNCR will move forward without vindictiveness, ensuring better choices in compiling its List of Candidates.
“What I can assure you is that moving forward, most of the people on the PNCR list will be tested and proven members. When individuals aren’t tested and proven, you cannot be assured of their commitment. We will work to ensure that our next list includes new people, but also those who are dedicated to our party,” the PNCR Leader stated.
Norton remarked that the recent departures signify the end of an era characterized by poor choices in personnel placements within the party.
