Police Detain Vehicle Linked to Mohameds Family Following Traffic Incident

News

News Room Guyana Reports | The Guyana Police Force has detained a vehicle driven by a member of the Mohameds family for further examination by a licensing and certifying officer following a traffic enforcement exercise.

According to a police release, the incident occurred along the Eccles Public Road when officers stopped motorcar PAB3000, reportedly driven by a woman. During the stop, police requested the driver to produce her driver’s license and vehicle documents. While awaiting the necessary documentation, an identifiable individual, Mr. Azruddin Mohamed, Member of Parliament, approached the vehicle. He instructed the female driver to leave the scene and head home instead of proceeding to the police station.

Complying with the instructions, the driver drove to Republic Park, with police following closely behind in an attempt to clamp the vehicle’s wheel. At that point, Maksim Dmitriyev of Eccles EBD intervened, presenting documents that identified him as the registered owner of the Toyota Land Cruiser PAB3000.

Dmitriyev was informed of the offenses associated with the vehicle and was subsequently invited to the Providence Police Station. At the station, the female driver was processed for several traffic violations, including the prohibition of tinted glass.

Additionally, police indicated that the female driver would be formally notified and summoned for failing to comply with police directions and for not presenting her driver’s license and other necessary documents. The vehicle has been lodged for verification of the engine and chassis with the Guyana Revenue Authority, as mandated by the Licensing and Certifying Officer.

Dmitriyev has been placed on his own recognizance and is required to report to the police on Monday, December 29, 2025, at 9:00 AM.
