In a recent operation, anti-crime patrol officers from Regional Police Division #3 conducted a successful “Cordon and Search Exercise” at an unattended chicken farm located at Parika Facade, East Bank Demerara. The operation took place on Friday, during which police discovered a total of 684.8 grams of suspected cannabis (marijuana).

The search was carried out between 13:00 and 15:30 hrs. Initially, officers searched a storeroom and the chicken coop but found no illegal items. They then noticed a track alongside a drain, approximately seven feet wide, and followed it for about fifteen minutes.
Upon investigation, they found a zinc sheet covering a grey tarpaulin, under which a green salt bag containing three bulky parcels of suspected cannabis was located. Additionally, a black plastic bag found nearby contained two more bulky parcels of suspected cannabis.
The seized parcels were transported to the Leonora Police Station, where they were weighed, confirming a total of 684.8 grams. As of now, no arrests have been made, and investigations are ongoing to determine the source and intended use of the marijuana.
