POLICE FOUND FOUR POUNDS OF MARIJUANA

  • News

Police ranks in Regional Division #2 seized approximately four (4) pounds of suspected cannabis on Tuesday, July 15, 2025. The narcotics were discovered buried in an abandoned yard on Henrietta Back Street, Essequibo Coast.

A 28-year-old woman, who was observed near the location of the narcotics, has been arrested and placed in custody. The police were initially conducting a search for 33-year-old Charles Abrams, wanted for assaulting a peace officer.

Upon arrival at the address, officers saw the woman exiting a clump of bushes in the abandoned yard, located north of her apartment. Acting suspiciously upon noticing the police, she was questioned about Abrams’s whereabouts but was reluctant to cooperate.

The police requested to search the apartment shared by the woman and Abrams, where no illegal items were found. However, upon inspecting the area in the abandoned yard, officers noticed disturbed ground. After digging, they uncovered a five-gallon bucket buried about one foot below the surface.

Inside the bucket, a bulky transparent package containing leaves, seeds, and stems suspected to be cannabis was found.

The woman was informed of the offense, cautioned, and arrested. She, along with the cannabis, was transported to the Anna Regina Police Station. The total weight of the cannabis amounted to 4 lbs.

The woman remains in custody pending further investigations.
