Police are investigating the circumstances surrounding the discovery of an unidentified male’s body found on Saturday, March 28, 2026, in the Demerara River behind the Marriott Hotel, Kingston, Georgetown.
The body was reportedly spotted around 10:40h.
Police said the deceased is an unidentified male who appeared to be of African descent and in his early teens.
Preliminary investigations indicate that persons walking on the jetty at the Kingston Seawall behind the Marriott Hotel observed the body floating in the river and raised an alarm.
The body was later retrieved and pronounced dead by a doctor on duty. Police said the body was examined and no marks of violence were observed. The deceased was then escorted to Memorial Gardens Funeral Home, where it is being kept pending identification and a post-mortem examination.
Police also said CCTV cameras in the vicinity have been identified and will be reviewed.
Investigations are ongoing.
