Police are currently investigating a disturbing case involving the alleged rape of a 15-year-old schoolgirl that reportedly took place in June 2025 on the East Bank of Demerara. The investigation has identified three suspects: two taxi drivers and a 16-year-old student.

The suspects are:
- Matthew Burnett, also known as Delwyn, a 24-year-old taxi driver from Diamond New Scheme, East Bank Demerara.
- Rakchand Harnath, known as Kevin, a 30-year-old taxi driver from Best Village, West Coast Demerara.
- A 16-year-old juvenile from Best Village, West Coast Demerara.
According to police inquiries, the victim and the suspects were known to each other, with communication occurring via WhatsApp. The victim reported that she met with the suspects on two separate occasions, during which she engaged in sexual intercourse with them. She also alleged that the suspects recorded videos of these encounters without her consent and threatened to share the footage.
In light of the serious nature of the allegations, the victim and her mother have been referred to the Child Care and Protection Agency for further assistance and support.
The police have emphasized the importance of addressing such incidents and are urging anyone with additional information to come forward as the investigation continues.
