Police in Regional Division #2 are investigating an alleged drowning incident that occurred on Monday, April 6, 2026, at Hot and Cold Lake, Onderneeming, Essequibo Coast, involving a 15-year-old student.
The victim has been identified as Arif Azeez of Adventure, Essequibo Coast.
According to initial enquiries, Azeez had gone to the lake on an outing with friends and was operating a jet ski when he allegedly fell into the water and disappeared beneath the surface at approximately 16:30 hours. An alarm was immediately raised and persons in the area launched searches in an effort to locate the teen.
As of the time of this report, searches are still ongoing and investigations continue.
