Police Investigates Fatal Crash that Claimed Life of 17-Year-Old Naomi Singh in Essequibo Coast

Police in Region Two are investigating a tragic accident that resulted in the death of 17-year-old Naomi Singh on Sunday afternoon along the Riverstown Public Road. The incident occurred around 5:00 PM and involved a motor car and a motorcycle.

According to initial reports, Singh was driving motor car PXX 3695 from Huist Dieren when she collided with motorcycle CP 7725, ridden by a 24-year-old man from Pomona Housing Scheme. The two vehicles were reportedly traveling in opposite directions on the north-south corridor when the accident occurred. The motorcyclist stated that Singh’s vehicle suddenly veered into his path, leading to the collision.

The impact was severe, causing Singh’s car to crash into a utility pole before it spun several times before coming to rest on the roadway. Singh sustained critical injuries and was transported to Suddie Public Hospital, where she was pronounced dead on arrival. Her body has since been placed in the hospital mortuary pending a post-mortem examination.

After the crash, the motorcyclist attempted to flee the scene but was apprehended shortly after. He is currently in custody assisting police with their investigation and reportedly declined to undergo a breathalyser test.

Both vehicles involved in the accident have been secured at the Suddie Police Station. Police are reviewing CCTV footage and continue their investigation into the circumstances surrounding the collision. Further updates are expected as inquiries progress.
