In a statement, the Force confirmed that the matter was brought to the attention of the Commissioner of Police, who has since directed the Office of Professional Responsibility to immediately begin a thorough probe into the circumstances surrounding the incident.

The Force made clear that the conduct depicted in the video is being treated with the utmost seriousness, stressing that all ranks are held to strict standards of professionalism, restraint, and accountability — regardless of whether they are on or off duty.

“Any behaviour found to be inconsistent with the standards of the Force will be addressed in accordance with the law and established disciplinary procedures,” the statement read.

The Guyana Police Force reaffirmed its commitment to maintaining public trust and assured that all allegations of misconduct are handled with the gravity they deserve.
