Police Launch Murder Investigation Following Fatal Shooting of Tesirea Hyman

Police have initiated a murder investigation following the fatal shooting of 43-year-old Tesirea Hyman, a businesswoman and clothing vendor from Lot 625 Mocha, East Bank Demerara. The incident occurred around 2:30 PM at her boutique located at Lot 297 Mocha.

According to police reports, Hyman was approached by two masked men on a motorcycle, one of whom was armed with a handgun. The suspects attempted to rob her, but she reportedly resisted. During the struggle, Hyman was shot six times.

The suspects fled the scene on the motorcycle, heading north. Emergency Medical Technicians from the Eccles Fire Service responded to the scene, and a doctor from the Georgetown Public Hospital Corporation (GPHC) pronounced Hyman dead at 4:40 PM.

Police, led by Superintendent Wayne DeHearte, Commander of Regional Division 4B, processed the scene. Investigators recovered two 9mm spent shells and one suspected projectile approximately three feet from the victim’s body. Hyman’s body has been taken to the Memorial Gardens Mortuary, where it awaits a post-mortem examination.

Law enforcement officials are currently reviewing surveillance footage from several nearby CCTV cameras as investigations continue.
