Police Report : Tragic Motorcycle Accident Claims Life of 28-Year-Old Man

Police are investigating a fatal motorcycle accident that occurred on Sunday, leading to the death of 28-year-old Travis Joseph. Authorities report that Joseph lost control of his motorcycle while riding at high speed, resulting in severe injuries that ultimately proved fatal.

The incident took place around 16:10 hrs as Joseph was traveling north along the west side of the Fyrish road. Witnesses state he lost control, causing him to be flung from the motorcycle and land on the grass a significant distance away, sustaining critical injuries, including trauma to his head.

According to a police release, after the initial accident, Joseph’s motorcycle slid into the path of a vehicle driven by a 63-year-old resident of Stanleytown, New Amsterdam, who was traveling in the opposite direction.

Bystanders immediately came to Joseph’s aid, finding him in a semi-conscious state. He was transported to the Port Mourant Public Hospital for urgent care. Despite the efforts of medical staff, he was later transferred to the New Amsterdam Public Hospital, where he tragically succumbed to his injuries.

Joseph’s body is currently at the hospital’s mortuary, pending a post-mortem examination.

The driver of the vehicle involved underwent a breathalyzer test, which returned a result of 0 micrograms. He has since been released on bail. The vehicle has been submitted for inspection by a licensing and certifying officer.

Police have confirmed that investigations into the incident are ongoing. This tragic event serves as a stark reminder of the dangers associated with motorcycle riding, especially at high speeds.
