Police Seek Public’s Help to Identify Deceased Man Found Near Berbice Bridge

The Guyana Police Force is appealing to the public for assistance in identifying a deceased man who succumbed to injuries sustained in a fatal incident on Wednesday, July 9, 2025. The incident occurred between 4:30 a.m. and 4:45 a.m. along the eastern carriageway of the Berbice River Bridge Road, near Palmyra Village, East Coast Berbice.

According to police, the victim is a male of African descent, believed to be in his early twenties. He suffered multiple visible injuries to his face, arms, and legs. The man was transported to the New Amsterdam Public Hospital by unknown individuals, where he was pronounced dead around 5:45 a.m. while receiving medical treatment.

The body is currently being kept at Persaud Funeral Home pending identification. Authorities are urging relatives or anyone who may have information that could lead to the identification of the deceased to contact the nearest police station or Regional Division #6 Operations Room.

A photo of the deceased has been released by the police to aid in the identification process.
