Authorities are urging the victim of an assault, captured on video, to step forward as the investigation into the incident continues. The altercation took place around 14:00 hours on Saturday, January 25, 2026, at a park in La Jalousie.
The incident gained attention after a video showing three males assaulting another man began circulating on social media, prompting police to launch an investigation. Additional footage revealed that a motor vehicle, registered as PGG 6502, was used to transport the perpetrators away from the scene following the attack.
Acting on tips received, police traced the vehicle to Zeelugt, East Bank Essequibo. Authorities located the driver, a 17-year-old male, who cooperated with investigators and led them to two other suspects: an 18-year-old from Zeelugt and a 16-year-old from Uitvlugt.
The three suspects have been arrested and are currently held at the Leonora Police Station, along with the vehicle, as the investigation proceeds.
Despite the seriousness of the incident, it has been reported that no formal complaint has been filed by the victim. Police are emphasizing the importance of the victim’s cooperation in facilitating the investigation and ensuring that appropriate legal action is taken.
Authorities are calling on the victim, or anyone with information regarding the case, to contact their nearest police station and assist with the ongoing investigation.
