Political Tensions Escalate: Concerns Raised Over Police Action on Christmas Day

Update from Hana Khamelia Via Social Media Statement – As the nation celebrates the holiday season, political tensions have intensified, raising concerns about the government’s priorities. Khamelia criticized the President for having law enforcement focus on opposition members during a time meant for family and reflection.

In a video shared online, Khamelia detailed her experience with the police, explaining that an Inspector had initially permitted her to take her children home. However, shortly after, multiple police vehicles arrived, equipped with a wheel clamp, following further instructions from superiors. The situation escalated as she found herself separated from her breastfeeding baby for over ten hours.

Khamelia noted that while she was attended to by the police, her elderly father and husband accompanied her vehicle. Upon arriving at the station, police confirmed that all vehicle documents were compliant and up to date. Despite this, she was instructed to report again to Providence Police Station.

As she recounted the unfolding events, Khamelia expressed frustration over instructions changing at the last minute, with the police suggesting that if any orders “from above” arose, she might be charged despite the absence of any infractions. “I will attend with every document in hand,” she stated confidently.

With the advice of her attorney, Khamelia emphasized that the police were not authorized to detain her vehicle without justification, highlighting that all documents had been presented, thoroughly reviewed, and verified.

Describing her experience as “political harassment and persecution,” Khamelia noted the sympathies expressed by some officers, who appeared uncomfortable with the circumstances. She insinuated that these actions stemmed from the highest levels of government, suggesting a pattern of targeting political opposition.

In a hopeful message to the children of Agricola and Alexander Village, she reassured them that despite the delays, their planned toy distribution would proceed: “They may delay us, but they cannot stop us.”
