News Source Guyana Reports : A post-mortem examination conducted on the body of seven-year-old Isabella Dabadial on Tuesday has confirmed that the child died by manual strangulation, as her mother, 26-year-old Sarah Shivpersaud, remains under police guard in hospital and is expected to face murder and attempted murder charges this week.

The tragedy unfolded on Sunday morning in Fyrish Village, Corentyne, Berbice, after Shivpersaud posted a photograph on social media of herself and her two children — declaring it would be their last photograph together and asking to be forgiven. Several persons who recognised her raised an alarm and contacted family members. Shivpersaud’s own mother rushed to the home, where she came face to face with the devastating scene. All three were rushed to hospital, where Isabella was pronounced dead. Shivpersaud and her one-year-old son were admitted for treatment. The toddler survived.
The children’s father, Kirwayne Dabidyal, told reporters he had left the family home after a heated argument with Shivpersaud and gone to his mother’s residence to cool down. On Sunday morning, he received a message that chilled him to the bone.
“She messaged me and tell me that I have 15 minutes to reach back home or I will regret it, and then she video called me and showed me the kids lying, looking like they were sleeping, and she said it was too late,” Dabidyal recalled.
The grieving father described a troubled relationship marked by frequent arguments, and alleged that Shivpersaud would often use the children as leverage during their disagreements.
“To be honest we used to have a lot of fights. She cheats, and when I catch her, I does always go by my mom to cool down, and she would use the kids to manipulate me every time to come back,” he said.
Shivpersaud had reportedly been experiencing significant emotional distress following the argument, complaining of going through a “tough time” at home. She also inflicted wounds upon herself during the incident.
Murder and attempted murder charges are expected to be laid against Shivpersaud this week.
